Lead Interior Designer Work Environment:

Carla Royder Designs & CO operates within a dynamic workspace that blends creativity with functionality. Our physical setting an open-plan studio, encouraging collaboration among team members while also providing personal spaces for focused work.

Work hours for a Lead Interior Designer may extend beyond the typical nine-to-five, especially when project deadlines approach. However, Carla Royder Designs & CO offers flexibility to accommodate personal commitments, recognizing the importance of work-life balance. Dress code is luxury design esthetic, reflecting the professional yet creative nature of the role.

The culture within CRD is one of positivity, continuous learning, with opportunities for professional development highly valued. Interaction with clients, contractors, and team members is frequent, necessitating strong communication skills. While the job may require occasional travel to client sites or design locations (including out of state), it primarily revolves around the studio, where the blend of creativity, technology, and collaboration drives success.


Lead Interior Designer Job Duties:

  • Develop initial design concepts that are functional, aesthetically pleasing while meeting clients needs and budget.

  • Create detailed 2D and 3D renderings using computer-aided design (CAD), Sketch-Up and Revit to visualize design plans.

  • Select and specify furnishings, fixtures, equipment, and materials, coordinating with vendors and suppliers for procurement.

  • Oversee project timelines and coordinate with contractors, architects, and other professionals to ensure design elements are executed accurately and on schedule.

  • Conduct site visits to monitor the progress of projects, ensuring that construction and installation align with design specifications.

  • Prepare and manage budgets for interior design projects, including estimates for design hours, furnishings, and materials.

  • Provide expert guidance on building codes, regulations, and accessibility standards to ensure compliance in design projects.

  • Mentor junior designers, offering guidance on design techniques, project management, and client relations to foster their professional growth.


Lead Interior Designer Required Qualifications:


Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design or a related field such as Architecture or Fine Arts. Coursework should include classes in design principles, space planning, materials and finishes, furniture design, color theory, and computer-aided design (CAD), Sketch-Up and Revit.


Experience:  Minimum five (5) years experience in project management, client consultation, and design execution. Exposure to various design styles and sectors, such as residential, commercial, or hospitality, preferred. Demonstrated participation in professional workshops and ongoing continuous learning.


Lead Interior Designer Salary:

Factors influencing the Lead Interior Designer’s salary will include years of experience, specialization in high-demand sectors (e.g. luxury residential and commercial), portfolio quality, reputation within the industry, and the ability to manage projects independently and/or lead a team effectively.
